The Truss and Panel Estimator is responsible for estimating the detailed list of materials, (lumber, siding, interior trim, and hardware) for purchasing and production for new projects, according to architectural plans and engineered drawings.

Travel:If no prior truss experience, expectation would be for this position to travel to Burlington, NC in June 2024 to train for 4 weeks (all expenses paid).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides a detailed list of inclusions/exclusions within scope according to plan documents
  • Estimates and submits proposals for approval
  • Assists coordinating the project at various stages including plan revisions, change orders, estimated material, etc
  • Communicates effectively with all organizational levels
  • Provides problem-solving solutions using Building Codes and product information
  • Assist other Estimators
  • Works with Sales & Management to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Compile detailed and legible quotes for submission to client
  • Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Multifamily / Commercial estimating experience preferred
  • Proficiency in basic computer software
  • Working knowledge and experience using Bluebeam and/or excel preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience reading architectural and engineered drawings
  • Working knowledge and experience calculating pricing based on costs


Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking
  • Excellent written skills
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret building codes
  • Strong math skills including algebra and geometry
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Ability to use a computer terminal
  • Ability to learn estimating software
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers, builders, peers, and management
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, and work under little supervision
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and ability to learn estimating software
  • Ability to perform duties independently, while also functioning as part of the overall team
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management
  • Ability to pass a drug test
