We currently have an excellent job opportunity for the Director of Development , Heart Ball and Go Red for Women Luncheon serving the Hampton Roads Virginia area and working out of our Norfolk, VA office.

The Director of Development position requires an individual who has experience with large sales/fundraising goals and large events, preferably with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in an assigned territory. Good knowledge of the Southside and Peninsula communities is a plus! Put these skills to work while securing and growing major sponsorships, managing, motivating, and training high-level volunteers, orienting committee members, planning and executing several large social events and collaborating with AHA staff.

Required Experience
Required Qualifications:
' BA or BS degree or equivalent
' 3-5 years fundraising experience
Preferred Qualifications:
' Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles, practices, techniques, and current trends.
' Experience in event planning, organizing, consultation, and volunteer management.
' Ability to recruit, manage, and evaluate high level volunteers for appropriate utilization.
' Demonstrated skills written and oral communication, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training.
' Ability to organize and prioritize large events and multiple projects.
' Ability to read, comprehend, and analyze number goals and fundraising reports.
' Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout assigned geographical territory and to work occasional evenings and weekends.
' Ability to use relevant tools (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and database programs, and voice mail).
